Шекспира "Ромео и Джульетта" Сцена 1 «Бродячий театр приходит в Верону» Входят актеры с реквизитом. А к т е р ы : – Устал я, брат Петруччо, четвёртый день в пути… – А в животе так пусто – как в степи. – И в горле пересохло, как в пустыне. – Спросить Матильду? У неё всегда Для брата нашего найдётся корка хлеба. – Добра безмерно (оборачиваясь к Матильде) И к тому ж – собою хороша… М а т и л ь д а . Вы, сударь, льстец. Но пищей поделюсь я. Впрочем, я слышу шум толпы. Мы, кажется, пришли. А к т е р ы (сзади): – Да, это город! – И какой большой! – Какие дамы тут! – А дети просто прелесть! П е т р у ч ч о . У дам мужья есть, а у деток папы. У всех у них большие кошельки! М а т и л ь д а . Они актёрам не дадут пропасть. Ну, где Горацио? Пора бы уж за дело! Выходят Горацио и Корделия. М а т и л ь д а . О небеса! Святая Дева, снова спорят! Всё смысл искусства ищут… П е т р у ч ч о . Не найдут. А кушать хочется. Г о р а ц и о . Любовь – не самоцель, а только средство Заставить их смотреть, а стало быть, платить. К о р д е л и я . Нельзя играть, не вкладывая сердца, Иначе чувств в душе не разбудить. Г о р а ц ио . Хватило в Риме нам высоких чувств, Когда играли там "Любовь и грусть”. До сей поры от тумаков спина болит, А в животе от голода урчит, – спроси Петруччо. Ты зрителю подай страстей побольше, Чтоб захватило дух и леденило кровь, И нервы щекочи как можно дольше, Чтоб побеждала смерть, а не любовь, (К зрителям.) Скажи, любезный, что тебе милее: Любовь и вздохи или смерть и страсть? З р и т е л и : – По мне б побольше драк, да поживее! – А мне бы слёз, чтоб в обморок упасть! Г о р а ц и о . Вот глас народа. Надо начинать. Кто хочет заработать, все сюда! Найдём сюжет, ведь главное – сыграть! Все по местам. За дело, господа! Сцена 2 «Глашатай – актеры» Звучит колокол, на сцене глашатай. Г л а ш а т а й . Две равноуважаемых семьи В Вероне, где встречают нас событья, Ведут междоусобные бои И не хотят унять кровопролитья. Друг друга любят дети главарей, Но им судьба подстраивает козни. И гибель их у гробовых дверей Есть результат непримиримой розни. Сцена 3 «Горацио – Корделия» Г о р а ц и о . Что же, вот тебе завязка, Что подарила нам судьба: Вражда семей, и кровь, и пляска Добра и зла, извечная борьба. Сыграем это – будем на коне. К о р д е л и я . Я докажу, что ты не прав вдвойне. Над смертью здесь любовь восторжествует, Вражда уйдёт, и ты поверишь мне. (К глашатаю.) Как девушку зовут? Г л а ш а т а й . Джульетта. К о р д е л и я . Доверь МНЕ эту роль! Г о р а ц и о . И ты сыграешь это? К о р д е л и я . Когда иначе, мне тебя не убедить! Г о р а ц и о . Я подыграю, так тому и быть! (Хлопает в ладоши.) Всё, начали! (К зрителям, с поклоном.) Милорды, вам судить. Смотрите сами, Кто прав, кто виноват – итог за вами. Сцена 4 «Представление участников» Фонограмма – начало Богемской рапсодии. П а ж и . Two households both alike in dignity in fair Verona where we lay our scene from ancient days behave like enemies and civil blood makes civil hands unclean. (Кланяясь зрителям и друг другу.) – Lady Montague. – Lady Capulet. – Lord Montague. – Lord Capulet. – Romeo, son to Montague. – Juliet, daughter to Capulet. – Mercutio, kinsman to Prince and friend to Romeo. – Tybald, nephew to Lady Capulet. – Benvolio, a friend to Romeo. – Mathilda, nurse to Juliet. Пажи наступают друг на друга, выкрикивая имена. За ними наступают члены кланов. Стук посоха. В с е (хором). Prince of Verona! П р и н ц . My lords, forget your quarrels for today Lord Capulet marks holiday inviting each of us to be his guest so be polite, that’s my request. Сцена 5 «Бал» Л о р д К а п у л е т т и (с женой, кланяясь принцу). You’re welcome, gentlemen. Л е д и К а п у л е т т и . Feel at home today. Let’ s start the party. Леди Капулетти берёт Принца под руку, все уходят со сцены, остаётся Паж, играющий на флейте, внизу танцуют пары. P r i n c e s s L a u r a . The melody is so sweet. I can’t help crying at the sound. To make my happiness complete. Will you invite Mathilda down? Л о р д К а п у л е т т и . Mathilda, come here, sing for us, For Princess Laura special class. Звучит песня "What is the youth”. (В этом спектакле все песни – из репертуара группы "Queen”.) В конце песни появляется Ромео с друзьями. Меркуцио изображает Матильду. Друзья уходят, Ромео остаётся на сцене. С другой стороны появляется Джульетта. Сцена 6 «Знакомство» Р о м е о . If I profane with my unworthiest hand This holy shrine, the gentle sin is this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand To smooth that rough touch with a gentle kiss. Д ж у л ь е т т а . Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much Which mannerly devotion shows in this; For saints have hands that pilgrims’ hands do touch, And palm to palm is holy palmers’ kiss. Целуются. Р о м е о . Have not saints lips, and holy palmers too? Д ж у л ь е т т а . Oh, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer. Р о м е о . О! Then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do; They pray, grant you, lest faith turn to despair. Д ж у л ь е т т а . Saints do not move, though grant for prayers’ sake. Р о м е о . That’s just a usual state of things as if he’s dreaming all the time. М е р к у ц и о . Oh, DREAMS. I’ve seen a dream like this. Б е н в о л и о . Well, WHAT was yours? М е р к у ц и о . That dreamers often lie. This is that very Mab That plats the manes of horses in the night And bakes the elflocks in foul sluttish, hairs, Which once untangled much misfortune bodes This is the hag, when maids lie on their backs, That presses them and learns them first to bear, Making them women of good carriage. This is she. Б е н в о л и о . Peace, peace, Mercutio, peace! You talk of nothing. М е р к у ц и о . True, I talk of dreams, Which are the children of an idle brain, Begot of nothing but vain fantasy. I fear too early. Strike, drum! Romeo, good night! I’ll go to my truckle bed. (Ромео прячется от них всё это время за кулисами, время от времени выглядывая, затем выходит, садится на ступени.) Р о м е о . They are gone! (Посылает им вслед воздушные поцелуи.) Сцена 8 «Качели (балкон)» Джульетта садится на качели, Ромео внизу на ступеньках, не видя её. Р о м е о . What light through yonder window breaks? It is the East, and Juliet is the sun. It is my lady, o, it is my love! See how she leans her cheek upon her hand! Oh, if I were a glove upon that hand That I might touch that cheek. Д ж у л ь е т т а . О Romeo, Romeo! Why are you Romeo? Deny your father and refuse your name. Or, if you will not, be but sworn my love And I’ll no longer be a Capulet! Р о м е о . Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this? Сцена 10 «Ромео – друзья – Кормилица» Музыкальная тема "Friends will be friends”. Р о м е о . Where are you, friends? I have a news for you But good or bad I really do not know. Thus friends are friends to share joys and sorrow. Б е н в о л и о . We’re coming just to say "Good morrow”. Песня "Friends...” (звучит фонограмма). М е р к у ц и о . Hi, lover-boy! Ромео и Джульетта встают на колени. Лоренцо начинает службу. Кормилица утирает слёзы. Дети поют "Fragile”. Горацио дирижирует. Сцена 12 Интермеццо «Корделия – Горацио» Г о р а ц и о . Занавес! Ко р д е л и я . Чем не финал? Всё так пристойно, мило И внемлет публика... Г о р а ц и о . И там вон тот уже заснул: До сей поры всё очень скучно было, Я еле до антракта дотянул. Ну, а сейчас у нас пойдёт потеха: Нас бойня ждёт, – ты вспомни про дуэль. К о р д е л и я . Ты никого не пожалеешь ради смеха, Но буду я права, ты мне поверь. Уходит за кулисы. Сцена 13 «Меркуцио – Тибальт» Г о р а ц и о (переодеваясь, вслед Корделии). Моя любимая, в душе я разделяю твои мысли, Но, к сожаленью, пробил час уже, Я знаю, будет всё, как в жизни. Б е н в о л и о . I pray you, good Mercutio, let us go, The day is hot, here Capulets, I know And if we meet we shan’t escape the quarrel. The hot blood’s leading us to sorrow. М е р к у ц и о . Don’t stop me now, I’m having Such a good time. I’m having a ball. DON’T STOP me now, If you wanna Have a good time – just give me a call. Don’t stop me now – I don’t wanna stop at all. Хор исполняет песню "Don’t stop him!”. Р о м е о (спускаясь со сцены). Don’t stop him now. Из дверей появляется Тибальт с друзьями, звучит песня "We are the champions”. Т и б а л ь т (к друзьям). Follow me close, for I will speak to them. Д р у г Т и б а л ь т а . To speak to those will lead to fighting then. Т и б а л ь т (к врагам). Gentleman, hello, one word with one of you. М е р к у ц и о . And but one word with one of us? Couple it with something, make it WORD and BLOW. Т и б а л ь т (к Меркуцио). Well, peace will be with you, sir. (к Ромео) Here comes my man. М е р к у ц и о . It’s not your man. It’s friend of mine. Take out your sword, here comes my time. (Теснит к дверям.) Т и б а л ь т . It’s not the place to have our talk. Come on, my lord, for your last walk. Р о м е о . My good Mercutio, put your weapon down For prince forbade the fight around. And you, my Tybalt, you forget your hate For soon there’ll be the news, just only wait. М е р к у ц и о (передразнивая). Only wait? (к Тибальту) Tybalt, rat-catcher, will you walk? Т и б а л ь т . With pleasure, let’s continue talk. (Уходят.) Р о м е о . Oh, my! I feel the death is here. My fault, the both are so dear To me, but I was late to stop this fight. Oh, God, let me just not be right. Tybalt’s here again. Входит Тибальт. Звучит песня "We are the champions”. Р о м е о . O, I’m a fortune’s fool! He’s here alive in triumph and Mercutio slain! Be meat for worms yourself and die in pain! (С криком подбегает к Тибальту и закалывает его.) Звучит песня "Mamma, I've killed a man…”. Сцена 15 «Стычка семей» Звучит песня "We we'll rock you”. Члены семей надвигаются друг на друга. Появляется Принц, разводит их в стороны. Все замирают. Л а у р а . My lord, a terrible disaster, Two men are killed and fight’s not over yet. Of life and dead you are the master, Be faithful and fulfil your debt. П р и н ц . Who was the first to start this fight? Benvolio, who was wrong and who was right? Б е н в о л и о . О noble prince! I can discover all. The first was Tybald, victim of his call Mercutio was, and then Romeo’s hand Had brought the story to the end. Л е д и К а п у л е т т и . Сцена 16 «Ромео – Мать – Лоренцо» Ромео бросается к матери. Звучит песня "Mamma, I’ve killed the man”. Л е д и М о н т е к к и . Calm down, my child, A gentle judgement vanished from prince’ lips. Not body’s dead, but body’s banishment. Р о м е о . Нa! Banishment! Be merciful, say "death”. For being absent takes away my breath. Л о р е н ц о (входя). Ungrateful child! Your fault our law calls death and you’re alive. Your Juliet has a chance to be with you. Be patient, for the world is broad and new So go to Mantua, and soon I’ll send for you. Все уходят. Сцена 17 «Джульетта – Отец» Отец сидит в кресле на сцене, Джульетта рядом, в слезах. Л о р д К а п у л е т т и . Things have turned out to be unluckily I know, You loved your kinsman Tybalt dearly so, Well, so did I, but we were born to die. It’s very late, we can’t decide tonight. Л о р д К а п у л е т т и . Not a word I say. I gave my promise. Go away! Занавес открывается, Джульетта спускается вниз. Сцена 18 Интермеццо «Корделия – Горацио» Г о р а ц и о (идя навстречу ей из зала). Ну, кто был прав? Финита, кончен бал: Убиты двое и грядёт финал, Ромео изгнан, а Джульетта Поплачет да … пойдёт к венцу. И выйдет замуж, верно это, Ведь не перечить же отцу. К о р д е л и я . Какой финал? Ромео здесь, В Вероне, Джульетта, Как законная жена, Ждёт дома. До рассвета Им ночь любви ещё дана. Г о р а ц и о . И что изменит эта ночь? Умерших семьям не вернуть, Рассвет разгонит чары прочь. А утром – что ж, Ромео, в путь! К о р д е л и я . Ночь ночи рознь. Иные, жизнь прожив, не знают страсти. Другие за ночь выпивают Любви и жизни чашу всю до дна. Да, ночь ОДНА, но это ж НОЧЬ одна. Корделия уходит, Горацио, сидя на ступеньках, качает головой. Звучит песня "Who wants to love forever”. Сцена 19 «Прощание, Ромео – Джульетта» Д ж у л ь е т т а . Will you be gone? It is not yet near day. Р о м е о . I must be gone and live or die if stay. But I will stay and die if you would say. Д ж у л ь е т т а . It is the time, it’s time for you to go, But time to meet will come again, I know. Р о м е о . Goodbye, goodbye. One kiss and I will go. (Ромео убегает.) Д ж у л ь е т т а . Beward, my husband, I am afraid you’ll be Too weak to stay away from me. So seak for strength, and I will pray I know, Soon comes our day. Горацио, сидя в первом ряду, делает знак актёру, играющему лорда Капулетти. Сцена 20 «Джульетта – Отец» Л о р д К а п у л е т т и (бросая фату дочери). Your wedding day has come; Try on your dress. Oh, well, I see you’re calm. It’s nice. We’re ready you to bless. (Уходит.) Сцена 21 Интермеццо «Корделия – Горацио» Корделия, держа в руках фату, идёт к Горацио. Г о р а ц и о (почти сочувствуя). Ну, что ж, тупик? Надежды больше нет. Надень фату. Смирись. Вот мой совет. К о р д е л и я . Но выход должен быть! Смириться не могу. Кого же мне о помощи просить? Г о р а ц и о (идя из зала, на ходу надевая рясу). Я помогу. Сцена 22 «Джульетта – Лоренцо» Л о р е н ц о . Oh, Juliet! I already know your grief. But if you trust me, dear, please, believe; Take this and drink. Your sleep will be like death. I’ll send for Romeo. He’ll be here, I guess. Д ж у л ь е т т а . Presenting death You just return to life. I’ll start at once and thank you for the chance. Сцена 23 Интермеццо. Режиссерская ремарка Звучит песня "Who wants to love forever”. Г о р а ц и о (идя за Корделией, печально). Какой красивый мог бы быть финал. Но в жизни будет всё иначе, Лоренцо весть пошлёт, как обещал, Гонец же до Ромео не доскачет. Супруг, вернувшийся домой, Джульетты сон как смерть воспримет, И вот, раздавленный судьбой, Как дар, он чашу яда примет. Она ж, очнувшись ото сна, Поймёт, что нет в живых Ромео. И, смысла жизни лишена, Самоубийством кончит дело. Сцена 24 «Пажи» Звучит колокол. A glooming peace this morning with it brings; The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head: Gо hence, to have more talk of these sad things; Some shall be pardoned and some punished: For never was a story of more woe Than this of Juliet and her Romeo. Сцена 25 Интермеццо «Корделия – Горацио» Г о р а ц и о . Как ни старалась ты, замкнулся круг. Любви и жизни нет, лишь смерть вокруг, И повесть о Ромео и Джульетте Останется печальнейшей на свете. К о р д е л и я . Всё вроде бы и так, но всё иначе. Смерть послужила миру, и теперь Враги вчерашние сегодня вместе плачут, И в прошлое навек закрыта дверь. Звучит песня "It’s a kind of magic”. Сцена 26 «Кормилицы – Дети» С двух сторон в зал вбегают кормилицы. М а т и л ь д а . О Romeo, Romeo, naughty boy! (Уперев руки в бока.) Не thinks I am a stupid toy! 2 - я К о р м и л и ц а . Hey, Juliet, Juliet, naughty girl! (Топая ногой.) Come here! I’m not a toy at all! К о р м и л и ц ы (друг другу): – Is yours at home? – He isn’t yet. And yours? – Oh, please, forget, forget! – Where’s Juliet – Romeo should be. – Together always. (Указывает на сцену.) Look! You see? (Подбирая юбки, вбегают на сцену.) Дети качаются на качелях. В глубине сцены стоят взрослые Ромео и Джульетта, взявшись за руки, и смотрят на детей. Кормилицы хватают детей, те брыкаются. Д е т и (кричат): – Let me go! – Leave me alone! – Romeo! – Juliet! (Кормилицы уводят детей.) Сцена 27 «Ромео – Джульетта» Звучит песня "Fragile”. Ромео и Джульетта проходят по сцене, останавливаются у качелей, затем, разговаривая, уходят. На мгновение оборачиваются к залу, улыбаются. Джульетта посылает публике воздушный поцелуй. Уходят. Сцена 28 «Горацио – театр» Г о р а ц и о. Триумф любви? Ну что ж, возможно. Победа жизни, счастья глас. Сыграть, бесспорно, это можно... Но... только в следующий раз. И назовём мы пьеску эту «Любовь и смех», как раз для всех. Искусство ведь не канет в Лету. THE END Halloween The sky is blue, The sky is green… Have you got a penny For Halloween? Halloween! Halloween! Let us have a penny For Halloween! The sky is dark, the Moon is blue All the ghosts and witches Came to frighten you! The roots of Halloween In the fall the nights get longer. The weather turns colder. Leaves fall down from the trees and plants die. For these reasons fall has long been thought of as a time of death. Long ago many people believed that on certain fall nights dead spirits came back to Earth. This idea was held by the Celts, European people, who lived in England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and France. Over 2000 years ago the Celts held a festival that was probably the start of our Halloween. The Celts festival was held on October 31. It was called Samhain, after the Celts lord of death. Samhain was thought to send ghosts to Earth on the night of October 31. When angry, Samhain could send many evil ghosts. The Celts built fires on the hilltops to scare off the ghosts. They also scared the ghosts away by wearing costumes made of animal heads and skins. Traces of the Samhain festival remain in our Halloween customs. Ghosts still roam about on October 31. Only today they are children under sheets. People still wear costumes on Halloween. Only now they are cloth and plastic instead of animal heads and skins. Fortune-telling is still done but just for fun. Even Halloween’s colours – orange and black – may have come from Samhain festival. It was a time when orange flames lit up the black night. Halloween – a spooky day Today is a spooky but fun day. It happens every fall. Paper ghosts and witches go up on school room walls. Children talk about what they will "be on Halloween”. Families carve their pumpkins. Many people carve scare faces. They place the pumpkins in windows or on doorsteps. Meanwhile, Halloween costumes must be gotten ready. Parents help their children to make their costumes. Ghost, witch and cat costumes are popular with many children. Finally, October 31 arrives. It is Halloween! Schools have parades of children in costumes. Many classes have Halloween parties. After school children put on their costumes again. They go from door to door saying "Trick or treat” and people give them candies. Many communities hold special Halloween events. Pumpkin contests are held in some places. Prizes are given for the scariest or best-looking pumpkins. "Haunted houses” for children are also popular. A "haunted house” may have paper ghosts hanging from the ceiling. Scary music may be playing in the background. Ghost stories may be told. There may be a fortune-teller who pretends to know the children’s future. High schools and colleges hold Halloween dances.
